In this context, the recently submitted report by the task force has taken a commendable step by defining affordability in terms of unit size and household income. This will be useful only if it is followed by the publication of location-wise median income figures.
The best practices in vogue elsewhere demonstrate that threshold income figures are necessary to set the affordable housing prices or rentals and regulate the market for achieving the targets.

The Rare Talent
Russell Peters is a stand-up comedian from Canada. I don’t think there is someone who doesn’t know Russell peters in America. The reason is whoever has a good sense of humor and people who likes humor will definitely know this brilliant comedian. I got a chance of watching one of his plays titled “OUTSOURCED”. To be honest, this guy has an amazing talent of mimicking and making fun of people.
There are lot of people who mimic celebrities, actors and some famous personalities, but this man has some outstanding stuff of mimicking people of various parts of the world. Not only the voice of the people, but also the body language, the face expressions and everything. His comedy mainly focuses on racial stereotypes, South Asian culture and his own experiences with the people of various parts of the world. One famous catchphrase of Russell Peters is “Somebody gonna get a hurt real bad”. Though there are lot of speculations involving the racial stereotypes and a lot of vulgarisms in his shows, if you watch his show with an open mind, its for sure that you will enjoy his sense of humor to the core.

Scenario
The global petroleum scenario has confounded analysts and the most proactive policy makers alike. Until last July, crude prices were on a relentless upward march touching a high point of $147 barrels that month against $60 a year earlier. Since then, it has moved down sharply, slipping below $40 two weeks ago. Last weekend, it was trading a shade above $36 in the futures market.
What is significant is that it remained low despite some aggressive cuts announced by the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries.
The world’s largest oil cartel, OPEC, which controls about 40 per cent of global supplies, decided on a cut amounting to 2. Million barrels a day over and above the two million barrels a day reduction pledged in September. Despite some important OPEC countries such as Russia announcing their own cuts, oil prices did not stabilize.
The picture is still hazy, with a lot depending on the revival of the world economy.

South Africa Stroms Back
Ricky Ponting, seeking to help Australia end a difficult year brightly, made a splendid century on the first day of the second Test at the Melbourne Cricket Ground, but South Africa fought back to gain the edge. Ponting overcame an uncertain period early in his stay on Boxing Day to score a rapid 101 - his fourth hundred at the Melbourne Cricket Ground and 37Th overall. But South Africa, looking to seal the three-Test series after the record win at Perth, restricted Australia to 280 for six in 90 overs.
Dale Steyn bowled a sharp, impressive spell in the middle session, finishing Friday with figures of two for 61 from 21 overs. Makhaya Ntini – who won the momentum for South Africa late in the day, having Brad Haddin caught at first slip for 40 – ended with two wickets as well. Morne Morkel and left-arm spinner Paul Harris claimed a wicket apiece.
Earlier, South Africa lost the toss before Ntini broke through, forcing the out-of-form Matthew Hayden to slice to point. Ponting then added 107 with Simon Katich for the second wicket in a partnership that stabilized the innings and also grabbed the initiative.
